Phishing e-mails, Jan10 2010
Recently some Sun Country customers have received an e-mail similar to below. This message is not sent from Sun Country.

In most cases our new Phishing alert has correctly tagged this message as suspiciouis.


***Warning: Possible Phishing Scam*** A new settings file for the example@sunwave.net mailbox
From: support@sunwave.net
Reply-To: example@sunwave.net
To: example@sunwave.net

Dear user of the sunwave.net mailing service!

We are informing you that because of the security upgrade of the mailing service your mailbox (example@sunwave.net) settings were changed. In order to apply the new set of settings click on the following link:

The link in the e-mail, while disguised as a Sun Country website, links the customer to a 3rd party page which may contain a dangerous file.

It is best to delete this e-mail and not to respond.

Recently some Sun Country customers have received an e-mail similar to below. This message is not sent from Sun Country.


Subject: Dear sunwave.net Subscriber
From: sunwave.net Support Team; helpdesk@sunwave.net
Reply-To: webmaster-team@windowslive.com
To: undisclosed-recipients;

Dear sunwave.net Subscriber,

We are currently carrying-out a maintenance process to your sunwave.net
account, to complete this, you must reply to this mail immediately, and
enter your User Name here (........) And Password here (.......) if you
are the rightful owner of this account.

Due to the Junk/Spam emails you receive daily, we are currently upgrading
all email accounts Spam filter to limit all unsolicited emails for
security reasons and to upgrade our new features and enhancements with
your new and improved E-mail account, to ensure you do not experience
service interruption.

This process we help us to fight against spam mails. Failure to summit
your password, will render your email address in-active from our database.

NOTE: If your have done this before, you may ignore this mail. You will be
send a password reset message in next three (3) working days after
undergoing this process for security reasons.

Sun Country will never ask for any of your passwords in an e-mail. The e-mail should not be responded to in any way and should be deleted immediately. This is something known as a "phishing scam", the phisher is attempting to obtain legitimate e-mail accounts, most likely for the purpose of sending spam.
